This L.A. quartet throws more into its pot of songs than almost any band in recent memory: a little bit of Butthole Surfers' sampling, a smidgeon of Sonic Youth (including producer Nick Sansano) and a whole lot of other borrowed riffs on tunes ranging from the hardcore pscyhedelic "Sucker Punch" to "Gold Plated Crazy." The album is never a drag but singer Michael P. Tak's wail quickly becomes a major irritant. It's good in bits but beware of overdosing.
