New Rock by RC Avz
This compilation changed my life. The first record on cassette I bought when I was just thirteen. This album was released around 1989 if I'm not mistaken. I heard somewhere that the songs on this album were apparently the production of DWNU 107's band auditions. Carefully selected by pioneering rock and new wave enthusiasts. The result was Filipino's pride, a statement to the world and age of New Wave. Modern Rock at its raw and finest. I could still remember the humble cassette tape copy I had, waned and lost in time. I really did looked up to these bands. That time when OPM bands were hard to find. The Dawn was around, as well as Deans December Violent Playground...
But this is different. This release was so obscure that there never was a follow up to this. Most if not all the bands here never made it to make their own albums. Now I still can't make out the words of the songs. Thanks to a friend, never really thought that a day would come for this record to come my way once again. Good things really come in small packages. I only wished I still had that issue of Jingle Magazine where the bands here are featured. I could've put some pictures here. At one time it was pointed out that a foreigner who heard this release thought he was listening to British New Wave music. The music is pure New Wave rendered by emerging Filipino bands of the 80s. Eight of them has shared that same feel, and eventually called the new rock. The 80s was clearly one colorful decade.

Take My Hand
(Ardie Lopez)
The sun sets forth from mountain crests,
the sun that lit the sky
As beams of light reach like a hand to pierce my blinking eye
I ran across the seas in search of you
Memories? of us just take me up above the hills and valleys
People think I’ve lost my mind because
I’m leaving everything behind
Tell me something I can do
with all this fame and fortune
When your love has left my heart behind
Nothing in this world can give that
magic of your arms around me
(take) take my hand, well it's a new life
(take) take my hand, let's live a new life
Take my hand, ‘cause it’s a new life
Take my hand, let’s live a new life
Take my hand
The times I had you in my dreams, we walked the endless? highways
I’m hopin’ you would stay for keeps, but I just keep on waking
I’m breaking all the borders just for you
Nothing in this world can stop me now I know that I could find you
Come on and leave everything to me
I’ll make life seem so easy
We’ll sail around just you and me,
my love will keep you happy
If only you would give you heart to me
All you have to do is
Take me? by the hand and I will show you
Take my hand, ‘cause it’s a new life
Take my hand, let’s live a new life
Take my hand Take my hand, ‘cause it’s a new life
Take my hand, let’s live a new life Take my hand
